What is DMSO used for?
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is an organic compound that has been used for several decades in the health and scientific research fields. It is recognized for its unique ability to quickly penetrate the skin, making it a particularly studied transdermal penetration vehicle.
Scientific research focuses notably on its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
Directions for Use
Our DMSO is 99.9% pure and undiluted; prior dilution is recommended depending on the intended use. Apply only to perfectly clean and dry skin, as DMSO promotes the absorption of any substance present on the surface. Avoid contact with cosmetics or impurities before application, and always test on a small area before first use.

- Store at a temperature between 15 °C and 25 °C.
- Protect from humidity, air, and light.
- Keep away from heat sources and incompatible substances.
⚠️ DMSO may solidify below approximately 18 °C (this is normal).
To liquefy it, allow it to return to room temperature (>20 °C) or use a gentle bain-marie (max. 40 °C).
DMSO naturally solidifies around 18–18.5 °C: this is a completely normal phenomenon, linked to its high purity.
However, it can remain liquid below this temperature due to supercooling, a physical state where a liquid does not crystallize even below its solidification point, as long as no element triggers crystallization. The purer the DMSO, the more likely this phenomenon is: impurities act as "seeds" for crystallization, and their absence delays the process.
Other factors favor supercooling:
- A smooth glass bottle, which offers few anchor points for crystals
- An absence of agitation, shock, or sudden temperature variation
A slight shock to the bottle, a vibration, or a rapid change in temperature can be enough to trigger almost instantaneous crystallization, even if the DMSO had remained liquid for several hours below 18 °C.
If your DMSO crystallizes, simply reheat it gently in a warm water bath, without exceeding 40 °C, until it becomes liquid again. Its quality is in no way altered.
